Vacuum Casting

KM Rapid provides vacuum casting (urethane casting) services for prototypes and small-batch parts. A silicone mold is made from a master pattern and used to reproduce parts in casting resin. Send your drawings, required quantity and finish requirements to discuss your project and request a quote.

Vacuum Casting Materials

KM Rapid offers polyurethane resins for rigid, clear and flexible vacuum-cast parts. Choose a material category, then share your drawings and performance requirements for grade selection.

• ABS-like rigid resins: PX5118, DPI8150 and DPI8158.
• Clear resins: PC-like PX510 and PX527; PMMA-like PX5210.
• Other rigid options: PP-like DPI5690, PE-like PX215, PA-like DPI2180 and POM-like PX225.
• Flexible polyurethane: DPI8400 and Hei-cast T-0387. Hardness depends on the selected grade and formulation.
• Heat-resistant options: PX223 and DPI6160. Specify the operating temperature and exposure duration for assessment.
• Flame-retardant options: DPI8263 and Hei-cast 8263. Required rating, part thickness and test conditions must be reviewed.

These casting resins simulate selected properties of thermoplastics; they are not the same as injection-moulding pellets. Silicone is used to make the mould. Final material selection depends on geometry, appearance, mechanical requirements and operating conditions.

Orders start from one part. We primarily serve business customers. Send your drawings, quantity, preferred color, finish and material requirements. We typically respond to inquiries within 24 hours.

Complex Geometries

Even parts with undercuts can be demolded smoothly due to the flexibility of silicone molds.

Low Mold Cost

Silicone molds are inexpensive and quick to fabricate (short lead time).

Vacuum Casting FAQs

Can I order just one vacuum-cast part?
Yes. KM Rapid accepts vacuum casting orders from one part and primarily serves business customers. We support prototype and small-batch projects. Share your intended use and quantity so we can assess the material, tooling and production requirements.

Are vacuum casting resins the same as injection-moulded plastics?
No. Vacuum casting uses casting resins in a silicone mould. ABS-like, PC-like and other material labels describe selected characteristics; they do not mean the resin is the same as the corresponding thermoplastic. Choose a grade against your appearance, mechanical and operating requirements. The silicone mould and the resin used for the part are different materials.

Limitations

Not suitable for mass production: Silicone molds degrade after repeated use.
Higher per-unit cost: Part costs are higher than those produced with steel injection molds.
